Amy Sergeant, a former graduate assistant coach and three-time MVP at Florida State University, is in her first year as assistant women’s tennis coach.
Sargeant served as a graduate assistant at her alma mater for two seasons, 2013-14 and 2014-15. In her first season as a G.A. for Jennifer Hyde, the Seminoles picked up their seventh straight NCAA Tournament bid. Last year the ‘Noles went 16-11, dropping a 4-3 decision in the ACC Semifinals to Georgia Tech. The Seminoles were nationally ranked throughout the season.
A four-year letterwinner, Sargeant was well decorated at FSU, earning team MVP honors in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2013 she became only the fifth play in FSU history to record 30 wins in a season, going 30-7 including a 12-match winning streak. Her .811 winning percentage as a senior is the second-highest single-season winning percentage in school history. Her career mark of .679 is the seventh-best in FSU history.
She was a member of the ACC Honor Roll from 2011-13. She was an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2012 and 2013. She also was named the ITA Southeast Region Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship recipient in 2013.
