Lettered in cross country and track & field at Belen High School for his father, Joseph Garcia … was All-State in cross country in 2013 … three-time all-state in the 3200-meter run (2013-15) and two-time all-state in the 1600 (2014-15) … all-state in the 1600 sprint medley (2014) and the 800 (2015) … Junior Olympic Cross-Country All-American in 2013 … had high school PRs of 9:45.36 in the 3200 and 4:27.65 in the 1600 … valedictorian, part of National Honors Society and three-time academic letterman.

Parents are Joseph and Georgia Garcia … has two brothers, Joseph and Joshua, who ran cross country at UNM and New Mexico Highlands, respectively … favorite athlete is Chipper Jones.
