LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Yu Yun "Kathy" Tsai fought hard, but UNLV's Nikol Miracheva won 6-3, 6-3 to take the Mountain West singles title and an automatic berth into the ITA Masters. Miracheva also won the MW doubles.
Miracheva bolted out to a 4-0 first-set lead with two breaks, cruising to a 6-3 win. Another key break, this time in the sixth game, kept Tsai at bay, and Kathy could never get back in it. Tsai finished the tournament 4-1, including a quarterfinal win over the No. 1 seed.
The Lobos will head to Northridge the first full weekend of November for the CSUN Fall Invitational.
