TUCSON, Ariz. --- David Schwarc won a pair of matches, and all six Lobos garnered at least one singles match win as the Lobos picked up nine total wins in the season-opening Kinlen & Vivian Gee Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona.
Schwarc picked up wins over New Mexico State's Lance Urlaub (4-1, retire) and NAU's Ivan Perisic (6-2, 6-0). UNM sent six players to the opening tournament: four newcomers (Schwarc, Juan Rodriguez, Nikhil Srivasta, and Andrew Lavine) and two returners, Connor Dils and Carl Labitzke.
Rodriguez defeated NAU's Feliz Neumeister 6-4, 6-3; Labitzke defeated NMSU's Laurendi Fischer 6-4, 6-1; Dils defeated Maxime Baur of San Diego State 6-2, 6-4; and Srivasta and Lavine both defeated NAU's Manolo Baldini, with Srivasta winning 6-3, 6-2 and Lavine winning 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).
In doubles, UNM picked up a pair of wins, with the pairing of Dils and Rodriguez winning 8-4 over San Diego State's Baur and Blake Anderson, and Srivasta and Labitzke beat the same pairing, winning 8-6.
The Lobos continue the fall individual season with a trip to Colorado to participate in the Bedford Cup, hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy.
