ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The opening week of the Lobo Soccer season continues at home as the Lobos host Gonzaga on Sunday at 1 p.m.
UNM enters the match 1-0 after a 2-0 win over Northern Arizona on Thursday, while Gonzaga is 1-2 following a win against South Florida to open the season and losses to Oregon and Arizona.
Sunday will be the third time that UNM and GU have played with the last time in 1995, a 2-0 Lobo win in Albuquerque. UNM is 2-0-0 all-time against GU.

0-2 IN 47 SECONDS
UNM scored two goals within 47 seconds against NAU as Nicole Anderson opened the scoring on an assist from Sherry Diep with 18:39 on the clock and Presley Devey doubling the lead on an assist from Alysa Whelchel at 19:26.
HOME STATS
UNM was 5-1-2 at home last season and outscored opponents 24-8. Of the 24 goals, the Lobos scored 14 in the first half and outshot opponents 118-106, 62-53 in the second half and 56-53 in the first half.
The Lobos shutout four opponents in 2025 and started 2026 with a shutout.
LOOK AT THE LOBOS
UNM returns 21 players from a season ago while adding eight newcomers with 10 underclassmen and 19 upperclassmen on the roster.
Of the eight newcomers, UNM added a transfer goalkeeper from Creighton in Madison London, a defender from Arizona Western in Alison Peralta, a defender from Baylor in Angelina Moschetti and five freshmen.
The Lobos return eight starting field players and a goalkeeper from last season, including Nicole Anderson, who tied for the team lead in goals and led in points, and Fiona Jenkins, who led with eight assists.
Alyson Campbell returns in net after starting 12 matches last season and appearing in 14, finishing her first season as a Lobo with four shutouts and a combined shutout.
In Thursday’s match vs. NAU, nine of the Lobo starters were 4th or 5th years.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Gonzaga opened the season with a 5-1 win at home against South Florida before losing 3-0 at Oregon and 2-1 against Arizona.
All six of GU’s goals have been scored in the first half with Amelia Severn leading the Bulldogs with four goals, which all came against USF. Severn also assisted on a goal against USF for nine points in the match. Samantha Snorsky has accounted for the other two goals and also has an assist. Four different players have recorded an assist.
Sydney Head has started all three matches in goal and allowed six goals with 16 saves. Of the goals allowed, two have occurred in the first half and four in the second half.
The Bulldogs have been consistent with their starting lineup with 10 players starting all three matches (Severn, Snorsky, Sienna Jenson, Kelli Chapple, Sophia Schlicklin, Olivia Lester, Avery O’Donnell, Makayla Werner, Anna Rydin and Head). Brooke Metcalfe has started the last two matches.
In their first year in the Pac-12, Gonzaga was selected sixth in the Pac-12's preseason predicted order of finish with Severn, Snorsky and Werner named to the league's Preseason Impact List.
