After leading the Lobos in batting over a three-game sweep of San Diego State that moved them into the driver's seat in the conference standings, New Mexico's Lenny Junior Ashby has been named Mountain West Player of the Week.

He's the third Lobo to earn MW Player of the Week honors so far this season along with Gene Trujillo (Feb. 16) and Khalil Walker (Feb. 23), with Ryan Castillo also earning Pitcher of the Week on March 30.

It's the second MW weekly award of Ashby's career -- he was also named MW Player of the Week on March 14, 2022 in his first stint with the Lobos.

Ashby led the Lobos with a .667 batting average (8-for-12) as they swept San Diego State (5-3, 11-3, 12-8) over the weekend, crushing two doubles, a triple and a homer as he finished with a 1.250 slugging percentage on the week. He only struck out once the entire weekend, finishing with a .714 on base percentage and 1.964 OPS.

The Aruban grad senior finished with multiple hits and at least one RBI in all three games, going 2-for-4 on Friday and Sunday and 4-for-4 on Saturday. He tripled and homered on Friday as the Lobos walked off the Aztecs and followed up with a pair of doubles on Sunday as they secured the weekend sweep.
