ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico’s offense stayed scorching hot Friday afternoon as the Lobos blasted four homers en route to a 16-5 run-rule victory in seven innings to kick off their weekend series with Northern Colorado.
UNM is now 5-0 to start the season for the first time since 2008, winners of four consecutive seven-inning run-rule contests. They still have yet to plate less than 10 runs in a single game this season and have drawn double-digit walks in each of their last four games despite all four being just seven innings in length.
The Lobos scored in five of their seven offensive innings, finishing with 16 runs on 11 hits while drawing 11 walks – they scored five in the bottom of the first, seven in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the sixth to ensure they wouldn’t need to play a full game. UNM also capitalized with runners aboard, going 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
Khalil Walker set the tone at the top of the order, going 2-for-3 and scoring all four times he reached base while driving in four more.

Luke Mansy delivered a monster performance, finishing 3-for-4 with two homers – just the second and third of his collegiate career – and four RBI, accounting for nine total bases. Prior to Friday, Mansy had only gone yard once in a Lobo uniform, a three-run shot vs. New Mexico State on April 1, 2025 in Las Cruces.

Aidan Kuni added a two-run homer and drove in five total runs to lead UNM in RBI, while Anthony Diaz and Lenny Junior Ashby each contributed an RBI as the Lobos drove in double-digit runs for the fifth consecutive game.
On the mound, RHP Cristian Mogen (4.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R / 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) earned his first win of the season with four innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out four. He retired five in a row to close out his time on the mound with three of his punchouts in that span to put a zero on the board in the third and fourth. His ERA sits at 5.63 through the first two starts of the season -- he's averaging 10.1 K/9 in that span with just three walks in total.

He now moves into the No. 6 spot on the UNM career saves list and is nine away from matching the UNM career record of 20.
