MOSCOW, Idaho --- Ana Veroux picked up a clinching singles victory, one of two for her on the day, as the Lobos traveled to the Kibbie Dome and defeated Idaho 5-2, pushing the Lobos to 4-1 on the season. The Lobos remain in Moscow to take on South Dakota in a neutral match on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Mountain Time.

The Lobos rebounded nicely from a loss to unbeaten Houston, taking care of business, starting with a doubles win. Veroux and Lea Malazdra stayed perfect in the spring, winning 6-1 to take the first half of the doubles point. While UNM lost at No. 1 doubles, Bente Vandeputte and Yu Yun "Kathy" Tsai won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles to clinch a 1-0 lead.

In singles, due to the unique setting of the Kibbie Dome, which is also Idaho's home football stadium, only the first four singles matches could be played to start. UNM bolted out with big leads by Vandeputte, Vianca Corley, and Veroux. All three won in straight sets, with Vandeputte winning first at No. 1, defeating Jessica Matthews 6-3, 6-0.

Corley, playing at No. 2, was next, winning 6-4, 6-0 over Chenyue Xu. Idaho got a point on the board with a win at No. 4 singles, but Veroux clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 over Hanna Koprowska.

Up 4-1, the teams played out the match, putting Nos. 5 and 6 singles on the court, and the teams split. Malazdra won at No. 5 singles in a third-set tiebreaker, winning 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (10-6) over Valentina Rodas, while Ramona Petre lost in a third-set tiebreaker to Miriam Hatem 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).

NOTES: Tsai became the first Lobo move into double-figures in doubles with her 10th win ... Vandeputte moved to 3-1 at No. 1 singles.
