ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Track & Field’s full 2025-26 indoor schedule has been released in its entirety, highlighted by four high-profile home meets hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The Lobos have eight regular-season meets on the docket for the upcoming indoor season, with all four home meets in Albuquerque set to be exclusively live streamed via FloTrack. Spectators can purchase tickets to all UNM home meets via GoLobos.com/TrackTickets when they become available.

Albuquerque has become known for hosting elite indoor track competition on its world-class surface at the ABQ Convention Center — at the conclusion of last season, 20 times or marks that ranked among the Top 10 in the nation in their respective events on the NCAA D-I Indoor Qualifying List were produced in Albuquerque.

Last year’s Lobos had one of their most successful team seasons in recent memory across the 2025 indoor and outdoor seasons, sending five athletes to NCAA Indoor Championships in March and 11 to Outdoor Championships in June. Most recently at NCAA Outdoors in June, the Lobos finished fifth in the men’s team score and ninth in the women’s score after national titles from Ishmael Kipkurui (10,000m) and Pamela Kosgei (10,000m, 5,000m) and All-American finishes from Habtom Samuel (10,000m, 5,000m), Mathew Kosgei (Steeplechase) and Marion Jepngetich (5,000m).

The UNM women also completed a sweep of Mountain West Women’s team titles, winning conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2025 – the men finished as a close second to Colorado State in both and look to challenge for the team title again in 2026. At last year’s Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, a total of 24 Lobos earned All-MW podium finishes with 12 event wins, with Habtom Samuel being named MW Men’s Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet and Darren Gauson earning MW Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year.

For the first time in a decade, this year’s Mountain West Championships will be hosted outside of Albuquerque, taking place Feb. 26-28 at the Reno Convention Center in Reno, Nev. All conference championship action will be free to stream via the MW Network.

All home meet information, including schedules, live results and entries can be found at GoLobos.com/HomeTrack when they are available — follow @UNMLoboXCTF on IG, X and Facebook for meet updates, live coverage, behind-the-scenes content and more.

A LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE
Fresh off the conclusion of the cross country season, the Lobos’ distance runners are right back to business at the BU Colyear-Danville Opener on Dec. 6 in Boston – a meet known for regularly producing some of the best indoor distance times in the nation – before the season pauses for winter break.

After the spring semester kicks off, the Lobos open up the Albuquerque Convention Center with the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational (Jan. 23-24) for their first home meet. For the weekend of Jan. 30-31, the squad splits up between the UNM Team Open at home and the BU Terrier Classic in Boston.

Next up are the New Mexico Collegiate Classic (Feb. 6-7) – a 16-team invitational meet — and the Don Kirby Elite Invitational the following weekend (Feb. 13-14), with another group of UNM athletes heading to Seattle for the Washington Husky Classic on the same dates.

After a quick trip to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invitational – known for its elite Distance Medley Relay competition – on Feb. 26, the Lobos head to Reno for their first Mountain West Championships away from home in a decade.

UNM athletes with marks that rank among the Top 16 declared individuals and relay squads that rank among the Top 12 in NCAA D-I at the conclusion of the season will qualify for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at University of Arkansas. Five Lobo athletes qualified for NCAA Indoor Championships last year in Virginia Beach, Va. – Habtom Samuel (3,000m, 5,000m), Ishmael Kipkurui (3,000m, 5,000m), Collins Kiprotich (Mile), Brodie Young (400m) and Pamela Kosgei (5,000m, 3,000m) – Samuel, Kipkurui and Kosgei all earning multiple All-America finishes. All but Kipkurui – who forewent the rest of his collegiate eligibility to sign a pro contract with Nike in the summer – are set to compete for the Lobos again this season.

AN ELITE TRACK & FIELD VENUE

AN ELITE TRACK & FIELD VENUE

The indoor track at the Albuquerque Convention Center has emerged as one of the preeminent indoor track & field facilities in the nation over the last decade. In concert with the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Albuquerque Convention Center, New Mexico has capitalized on its unique venue and prime training location with the indoor track at the ACC. The facility has hosted 14 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships, nine USATF Indoor National Championships, and five NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships — the first in NCAA history hosted at altitude. The ABCC has also hosted the NJCAA Indoor National Championships (2015) and NCAA Division II Championships (2012).

At the conclusion of last season, 20 times or marks that ranked among the Top 10 in the nation in their respective events on the NCAA D-I Indoor Qualifying List were produced in Albuquerque.

The most recent surface at the ABCC was unveiled in March 2021 and cost $3 million in total, with renovations that helped solidify the city’s ability to attract and keep hosting national meets that bring the best competition to Albuquerque. Since 2005, over 100 indoor track meets have been hosted at the ABCC — 16 being national championship events at either the collegiate or national level — and indoor track has generated over $30 million in revenue for the city of Albuquerque in that span.

The track — a state-of-the-art WSTY Mondo, the same surface used at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo — is a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track with 60-meter straightaways running the entire length of the facility. It also includes men’s and women’s jumping runways and pits, as well as areas for shot put, pole vault and high jump events. The surface of the track is striped with cherry red and turquoise to reflect UNM’s colors and the state color of New Mexico.
