Men’s Tennis Adds Germany’s Labitzke for 2025-26
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Carl Labitzke, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, has been added to the 2025-26 roster by head men’s tennis coach Rob Bareford. Labitzke brings the 2025-26 squad’s total to nine student-athletes.
The native of Berlin, Germany will be a freshman in 2025-26. He owns a No. 124 ranking in Germany and a men’s ITF ranking globally of No. 2485. He has three Berlin singles titles, winning U12, U14, and U16 titles, and he was ranked in the top 100 for U16 in Tennis Europe.
His top overall ranking in Europe got as high as No. 40, and the lefty has ranked in the top-10 every year in Germany from U12 play through U18.
Said Bareford, “We are thrilled to welcome Carl to the Lobo family. He’s a strong lefty with the potential to become really, really good.”
He joins Nishant Dabas, Alberto Perez, Jakub Prachar, Jan Skerbatis, and Tyler Waddock, all incoming transfers on the Lobos. They join returnees Dario Ciobotaru, Connor Dils, and Philip Bosin on a squad that went to the NCAA Tournament after going 16-9 on the season.
The Lobos were recently announced as a part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 25-26, 2026 where UNM will face off against nationally ranked UCLA.
