Lobo Basketball Adds JT Rock and Luke Haupt
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball program announced Thursday the addition of two transfers to the 2025-26 roster. Center JT Rock from Iowa State and guard Luke Haupt from Point Loma Nazarene have signed with the Lobos.
Rock, a 7-1 center, comes to New Mexico after spending the past two seasons at Iowa State. After redshirting in 2023-24, he appeared in nine games off the bench for the Cyclones this past season. A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Rock was a consensus top 100 recruit in the class of 2023 after being the South Dakota AA Player of the Year, averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots per game for Sioux Falls Lincoln HS.
“JT’s combination of size and skill level makes him an ideal fit in our system,” said head coach Eric Olen. “His best basketball is head of him, and we’re excited to help him get there. Lobo fans will love getting to know JT on and off the court.”
“UNM was the right place for me because of the style of play that Coach Olen and the staff are bringing in,” said Rock. “They expressed to me how they thought my skillset would fit within their system well.”
Haupt, a 6-7 guard, comes to UNM after four seasons at Division II power Point Loma Nazarene. A two-time NABC All-West District honoree, he averaged 13.2 points per game along with a team-high 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest last year after missing the entire 2023-24 season due to injury. Over his three seasons on the court for the Sea Lions, the San Diego native scored over 1,000 career points.
“Luke’s versatility, experience, and basketball IQ will have an immediate impact on our program from Day One,” said Olen. “His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor and play multiple positions aligns perfectly with our philosophy of positionless basketball. We are excited to welcome Luke and his family to the Lobo family.”
“I chose New Mexico for the high-level competition, elite fan base, and genuine people at the university,” said Haupt. “I am excited to be a Lobo and can’t wait to get to work.”
