Kosgei, Samuel Pick Up Two Awards at the Louies

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico athletic department hosted the Second Annual Louies, presenting academic and service awards along with individual awards as voted on by the student-athletes.  Pamela Kosgei and Habtom Samuel each earned a pair of honors after terrific seasons in cross country and indoor track and field, with both currently competing in outdoor track and field as well.

Team honors went to men’s and women’s golf for the highest GPAs in the department, to football for the most improved GPA and to softball for having the most community service hours.  The even was emceed by Robert Portnoy, Voice of the Lobos and featured a mix of academic advisors and student-athletes as presenters, along with a season highlight film and trivia contests.
