Dampier Named Week 12 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week
FORT WORTH, Texas – New Mexico sophomore Devon Dampier has been named the Week 12 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week after leading the Lobos to a 38-35 upset victory over No. 18 Washington State.
Dampier accounted for 367 yards of total offense and four touchdowns Saturday. On the ground, he rushed 28 times for 193 yards (6.9 per carry) and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with :21 remaining. In addition, he passed for 174 yards and a score as the Lobos overcame a 14-point halftime deficit.
In the contest, Dampier broke the school’s single-season record for total yards (3,657) and also topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2024, becoming the first Lobos quarterback ever to accomplish that feat in a season. For his efforts, Dampier also was named the Associated Press National Player of the Week and the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
