Lobos Conclude Competition at Terrier DMR Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – New Mexico Track & Field concluded competition at the Terrier DMR Challenge at Boston University with the No. 6 men’s mile time and No. 2 Distance Medley Relay in program history on Saturday.

First up for the Lobos, Samuel Field opened things up in the men’s mile with a new personal best (3:58.41) that ranks No. 6 on the UNM all-time indoor list. The Australian national broke the four-minute barrier for the first time in his career last week at the same Boston U track with a 3:59.99 time that ranked No. 9 in program history and shaved 1.58 seconds off that time with today’s finish – good for ninth place overall.

UNM’s DMR crew finished sixth overall, but the Lobos’ 9:28.79 time stands as the second-fastest in program history and fastest since 2018, when Ian Crowe-Wright (2:57.3), Carlos Salcido (47.0), Michael Wilson(1:50.8) and Josh Kerr (3:58.2) put together a 9:24.73 elevation-modified time at Mountain West Championships.

First up in the 1200m, Evans Kiplagat finished in 2:54.39 – Levente Soos (48.98) and Dylan Burrows (1:47.98) both ran new personal bests in the 400m and 800m laps, and Habtom Samuel ran a 3:57.44 1600m leg to close things out.
