Men’s Golf Travels to Kauai for John Burns Intercollegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team returns to action this week when it travels to the Hawaiian island of Kauai for the John Burns Intercollegiate. The event, hosted by Hawaii at the 7,156-yard, par-72 Ocean Course at Hokuala, will run Thursday-Saturday.

The tournament will consist of one round per day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Live scoring will be available on SmartGolf.com.

The event consists of 20 teams, including nine ranked in the top 50 of the national rankings. The Lobos are ranked a season-best No. 16 and are joined in Kauai by No. 9 Arizona State, No. 20 Cal, No. 30 Texas A&M, No. 33 San Diego State, No. 37 BYU, No. 47 Fresno State, No. 49 Long Beach State and No. 50 UNLV. Host Hawaii, Georgia Southern, Grand Canyon, Little Rock, Saint Mary’s, San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara, USC, Utah, UTEP and Washington State round out the field.

The Lobos will feature a lineup of Bastien Amat, Carson Herron, Matthew Watkins, Albert Boneta and Alvaro Portillo. David Davila will compete as an individual.

The Lobos are coming off a victory at the NIT in Tucson in their first event of the spring. It was their second victory of the season, as UNM also won the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on their home course.
