ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos, coming off one of the closest meets of the season, will head to Las Cruces for the team’s final dual meet of the season and UNM and New Mexico State will face off in round two in a noon dual meet at the New Mexico State Swimming and Diving Complex.

The Lobos, who were a little shorthanded in their 169.5-120.5 loss to Wyoming on senior day last weekend, figure to be in the same boat on Saturday as four and potentially five swimmers and divers might be held on of the meet as UNM has its sites on the Mountain West Championships February 21-24 in Houston, Texas.

The Lobos will most likely go with just three divers, but last week against Wyoming the Lobos swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter, with different divers winning.  Kristen Hepfer continued her resurgent 2023-24 season with her first 1-meter dive win, and her third win overall, turning in a season-best 258.68 with Alice English coming in second and Abilgail Bouravnev third as she turned in her best score of the season.  In the 3-meter, it was English’s turn to win, the freshman’s third 3-meter win to go with three 1-meter wins.  Hepfer was second as the two flip-flopped, with Bouravnev fourth.

The Lobos last week also picked up first, second, and fourth-place finishes in the 200-yard breast as Maya Clise outpaced everyone for an event win, and she was followed by Kiana Raagas in second and Ola Tomascek in fourth.  Katy McCarter also earned an event win, taking the 100-yard free, her third win this season in that race.

After this final dual, UNM’s diving contingent will head to NAU for a second NAU Diving Invitational February 8-10 before the conference meet in Houston.
