Lobos Fall in Three to Rams

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Volleyball fell in straight sets (15-25, 19-25, 23-25) for the first time this season in its matchup with Colorado State at the Johnson Center Saturday, with the Rams (11-8, 5-3 MW) snapping UNM’s four-match win streak.

The Lobos (13-6, 5-3 MW) double-digit kills from Kaitlynn Biassou (15) and Uxue Guereca (10), but the Rams hit .374 – the first time a UNM opponent has hit over .300 this season and first time since Sep. 1 that an opponent hit above .200. The duo finished with six digs apiece.

Colorado State was UNM’s fifth-straight Top 150 RPI opponent. Prior to today, UNM’s four-match streak as the longest in the conference.

After only leading once through the first two sets, Biassou and Guereca both connected on four kills each in a set three that saw 12 ties and nine lead changes to lead a spirited rally effort, with UNM eventually taking a 23-19 lead. But CSU scored six unanswered coming out of timeout – three kills, two blocks and an ace – to keep things from going to a fourth set.
