Lobos Sweep Green Bay in UND Classic Finale

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – New Mexico Volleyball closed out its weekend in North Dakota with a straight-sets win over Green Bay (26-24, 25-19, 25-13) Saturday morning, with the Lobos (6-3) putting the finishing touches on their third-straight winning weekend in tournament action.

The Lobos had to rally from down 20-24 with six straight points to clinch set one, but wasted little time dispatching the Phoenix (2-7) from that point on, holding them to .036 hitting the rest of the way while converting on sideouts at a 66% clip. UNM opened with 15 kills in the first set before putting down 13 each in the final two, hitting .215 in total.

BY THE NUMBERS
For the third straight game, Uxue Guereca led the way for the Lobos on offense, connecting on 11 kills while serving up two aces and adding 8 digs. Kaitlynn Biassou added 8 more kills and two aces of her own to go with 17 digs, and four other Lobos picked up at least three kills each to round out the effort – Elizabeth Woods finished with 7 kills and a pair of blocks, Athina Dimitriadis added five with two blocks of her own, Melissa Walden added four, and Kali Wolf added three. Walden and Wolf both served up an ace each, with Walden producing 30 assists for the seventh time this season.

In total, the Lobos served up 7 aces while picking up 10 more digs and 10 more kills than the Phoenix.

As she has in every appearance so far this season, Angela Crosetti led the Lobos in digs with 18, one of three UNM players to crack double-digits along with Biassou (17) and Wolf (13). She added a pair of assists, with freshman Madeleine Miller finishing with 3.
