Lobos Get Five Selected for National Television

by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Five Lobo football games have been slated for national broadcast, with four of those games on the road, starting with a season opening date with Texas A&M of the SEC, which will be broadcast in prime time on Saturday, September 2 at 5 pm Mountain Time on ESPN.

Along with the one ESPN game, the Lobos will be on CBS Sports Network twice and on Fox’s air waves twice.  There will be an additional broadcast announcment in the upcoming weeks with at least one more additional game.

The two games on CBS Sports Network start on Saturday, October 28 at Nevada, which will officially kickoff at 7:30 pm in Reno, and 8:30 in Albuquerque.  The other game is what is becoming a seemingly traditional Thanksgiving Weekend matchup with the Utah State Aggies.  That game will be on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving on November 24 at 1:30 p.m.  That game was the only home game selected for national broadcast in the window.

The Lobos will have two November games on one of the Fox networks (either FOX, FS1, or FS2) in back-to-back road games at Boise State on November 11 and at Fresno State November 18.  Game times for those games will be announced the Monday 12 days prior to kickoff.

With the announcement of television and game times for select games, it guarantees that 11 of the 12 games will be played on the traditional Saturday date for college football, with only the season finale moving to a Friday.

Broadcast information for UNM’s road games at UMass (September 23) and Wyoming (September 30) as well as home games with Tennessee Tech (September 9), New Mexico State (September 16), San Jose State (October 14), Hawai’i (October 21) and UNLV (November 4) will be announced at a later date, along with kick times for those contests.

The best way to guarantee your spot for the 2023 season is to purchase Season tickets, which are as low as $86, and are available here.  All season tickets holder accounts will receive a 2023 limited edition Season Ticket Holder Lobo cap.  The Lobos had seven players pick-up eight preseason All-Conference honors from Athlon Sports last week, and the Lobos are picking up high praise for several top returners such as local stars Luke Wysong, Andrew Erickson and Bryce Santana, along with top transfer like quarterback Dylan Hopkins, receiver D.J. Washington and running back Andrew Henry.  Additionally, the Lobos are getting back several injured starters like Tavian Combs, Ray Leutele and Alec Marenco.
