ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— As the calendar turns to March, the Lobos host UTEP for two games on Wednesday before heading back on the road for a split tournament between Arizona State and GCU, playing five games in three days starting Friday.

Both UTEP games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with live stats available. The Arizona State and GCU games will be streamed with live stats available to follow all five games.

The Lobos will face Charlotte for the first time in program history and Houston and Washington for the first time in 8 and 10 years, respectively. New Mexico previously played in the ASU/GCU Classic in 2021, facing both GCU and Arizona State.

Arizona State enters the weekend ranked No. 23 in the NFCA poll and receiving votes in the  ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 with Washington ranked No. 12 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll and No. 11 in the NCFA poll. Charlotte is also receiving votes.

20/20
The Lobos are a perfect 20-20 in stolen bases this season with 11 players having at least one stolen base.

Peyton Robinson leads with six stolen bases, followed by four from Rachael Hathoot and two from Keyannah Chavez. Eight players (Chloe Yeatts, Loran Walker, Emma Bramson, Ashley Archuleta, Olivia Birkinshaw, Janae Cameron, Evany Gonzalez and Grace Rana) have one.

UNM had four stolen bases in each of the games against Cal State Bakersfield and 10 games with a stolen base.

TAKE ME HOME
This weekend will take Emmalyn Brinka and Grace Rana back home to their home state of Arizona. Brinka is from Chandler, Arizona, with the freshman attending Corona del Sol HS, and Rana is from Queen Creek, Arizona, where she attended Queen Creek HS.

In UNM’s 6 wins, 3 have been of the run-rule variety, the Lobos have scored 10 or more runs in 3 and scored 8 or more runs in 5.

8 of Maddie Boldt’s 13 RBI have come with two outs and as a team, 37 of UNM’s 67 RBI have come with two outs.

Rachael Hathoot leads the MW in triples with three.

NEWCOMERS COMING THROUGH
Newcomers Maddie Boldt, Emmalyn Brinka, Chloe Yeatts, Keyannah Chavez and Taylor Snow have made an impact in their first games as Lobos.

In the circle, freshman Brinka threw a complete game to earn her first collegiate win against No. 19 Oregon State, striking out four and allowing two hits in the shutout. Brinka has appeared in six games with three starts and has thrown 19.0 innings with 14 strikeouts, second on the pitching staff in starts, strikeouts and innings pitched.

Boldt hit three home runs, a double and a triple with a total of eight RBI the first weekend. The junior had three RBI in Saturday’s game against LSU and Oregon State, hitting a triple in the first inning against the Beavers to score two runs and a double in the fourth to score a run. Against the Tigers, Boldt hit a two-run home run and added a RBI to account for all three Lobo runs. She added her third-straight three-RBI game against Buffalo. Boldt has recorded at least one hit and one RBI in six games, and has hit a home run in three games.

Chavez has started all 15 games in left field and went 3-4 in the season opener at Nicholls which included a double.

Yeatts has started in 14 games but played in all 15, and has tallied 14 hits, eight RBI and hitting .326 with a .356 on-base percentage. Yeatts drove in the first two runs of the season on a single through the right side in her first collegiate at-bat. The Oklahoma native hit her first home run in the game one win against Cal State Bakersfield and added her second at NMSU. She’s started at catcher in eight games, desginated player in five games and first in one game. Yeatts has finished with two hits in five games this season and at least one hit in nine games.

Taylor Snow has appeared in seven games, mostly in relief, and pitched 16.2 innings. She struck out two of the three hitters she faced in the fifth against Buffalo to end the game and two in 1.1 innings of work against Santa Clara. Snow entered in relief in the first inning of the second Cal State Bakersfield game and pitched 7.0 scoreless innings to earn her first collegiate win.
