INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Mexico track & field team has qualified four distance runners for the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, set to be held on March 11-12 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., announced the organization on Wednesday.
All four runners qualified in the same event as Adva Cohen, Emma Heckel, Gracelyn Larkin and Amelia Mazza-Downie all qualified in the women’s 5000m run. With a time of 15:33, Cohen is ranked fifth in the event. Heckel is ranked 13th with a time of 15:41.07. Larkin has a time of 15:41.17 for 14th place. Mazza-Downie is ranked 16th with a time of 15:41.56.
All four Lobos will be competing in their very first indoor championships. Cohen qualified for the championships in the distance medley relay in 2020, before the events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 9 a.m. (MT) Friday, March 11 and starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12. The 5000m event is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on March 11.
