ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball team returns to conference action on Tuesday night when it hosts No. 22 Wyoming. Tipoff at The Pit is 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Stadium/Mountain West Network and the Lobo Radio Network.
Fans attending the game are reminded of the health and safety protocols at The Pit. Fans 12 and over must show proof of vaccination or show proof of a negative COVID test in order to enter the arena. Complete information on the policy is available at GoLobos.com/safe.
Tuesday’s game features a halftime teddy bear toss as part of BeKind Night. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to toss on the court at halftime to donate to children in need. The game is also African-American Heritage Night at The Pit.
The Lobos (10-14, 2-8) are coming off a 78-46 victory over Northern New Mexico on Friday in a non-conference matchup. Jamal Mashburn, Jr. led the Lobos with 21 points, his 11th 20-point game of the season. Mashburn leads New Mexico in scoring this season at 17.9 points per game.
Wyoming (21-3, 10-1) entered the rankings this week for the first time in seven years as the Cowboys are atop the Mountain West standings. They are led by two of the top three scorers in the conference as Graham Ike ranks second at 20.6 points per game and Hunter Maldonado is third at 19.6 points per game.
It is the second meeting of the season between the teams as Wyoming edged the Lobos 93-91 in Laramie on Jan. 22. The Cowboys have won the last three meetings overall, but New Mexico has won 16 of the last 17 in Albuquerque, including the last four at The Pit.
The Lobos will conclude the homestand against Colorado State on Thursday. That game was originally scheduled for Dec. 28.
