ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.–With seven games remaining on the MW schedule, the Lobo women’s basketball team hosts the Wyoming Cowgirls on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Lobos having won their last two games and 11 of their last 12.

Saturday’s game will be Lobos Love Pink, where fans are encouraged to wear pink and can purchase upper bleacher seats for $5 for wearing pink. For those unable to attend, the game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and can be heard on the radio.

The Lobos remain at the top of the MW standings at 10-1, and lead the MW in scoring at 80.0 ppg, as well as field-goal percentage (.454), three-point field-goal percentage (.376), three-point field-goals made per game (11.2), blocked shots (51), blocked shots per game (4.6), assists (199), assists per game (18.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.6) in conference games.

UNM also has a conference-best five players scoring in double figures both on the season and in conference play, led by Shaiquel McGruder, who is averaging 16.6 ppg in league play.

On the other side of the court, Wyoming enters the game following a 47-45 loss at Air Force on Wednesday with McKinley Bradshaw leading with 14 points, followed by Quinn Weidemann with 11 points.

Since the last time the Lobos faced the Cowgirls, Wyoming has gone 3-3 with wins over Air Force (57-54), Boise State (61-47) and Nevada (62-53) and losses to Boise State (70-59), Utah State (76-66) and Air Force (47-45).

Wyoming has two players averaging double figures, led by McKinley Bradshaw (14.3) and Allyson Fertig (10.7). In MW games, Bradshaw is averaging 15.5 ppg and Fertig at 11.4 ppg. Fertig also leads with 9.2 rebounds per game and nine blocks in conference play, while Quinn Weidemann and Tommi Olson are tied with 24 assists. Olson leads with 18 steals.

In conference games, Olson, Fertig and Weidemann have started every game, with Alba Sanchez Ramos and Bradshaw starting eight.

Wyoming is averaging 60.9 points per game in conference with opponents scoring 61.3 points per game, and are shooting .395 from the floor and .265 from three-point range.

Wyoming (8-10 overall, 4-5 MW) is 2-7 on the road this season, 1-4 in MW games, while the Lobos (19-5, 10-1 MW) are 12-0 at home and 5-0 in conference games this season. UNM leads the all-time series 43-37 and has won the last two meetings and four of the last five.

The last time these two teams met, McGruder scored 26 points, Jaedyn De La Cerda scored 19 points and Antonia Anderson had 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Anderson and LaTora Duff led the Lobos with five assists each, with McGruder, Anderson and De La Cerda each recording two steals and McGruder credited with three blocks.

PIT POLICY
The entry requirements for all events in The Pit have been extended until further notice. Lobo fans will have three ways to come and enjoy Lobo Basketball in The Pit.  The simplest will be for patrons to provide proof of vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status means having two shots of Pfizer or Moderna, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (or AstraZeneca for international fans), with the last shot received two weeks prior to the date of event entry. The second way to enjoy Lobo basketball at The Pit would be to provide proof of a negative COVID test. A PCR test must be within 72 hours and an antigen test must be within 24 hours of the event. Home COVID tests are not valid for this type of entry.  The third way to enjoy Lobo Basketball at The Pit is to be under 12 years old, as fans up through age 11 will be admitted without proof of vaccination.

Patrons to all events at The Pit must additionally adhere to all other state health regulations, which currently include wearing a mask in any indoor venue or setting.
