Lobos Tied for Third Through Round One at Rebel Beach Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team completed round one of the Rebel Beach Invitational on Monday tied for third place in a field of 13 teams.

The Lobos and the rest of the squads completed the first round of the three-round tournament on Monday before round two was suspended due to darkness. The teams will resume round two at 8 a.m. PT (9 a.m. MT) on Tuesday.

New Mexico had three golfers finish in the top 20 in round one while all Lobos shot +5 or less.

Sophomore Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana led the Lobos with a 71 (-1) in round one followed by freshman Myah McDonald who shot a career-best 73 (+1). McDonald is competing as an individual.

Second in the Lobo lineup was senior Caroline Jansson who shot a 74 in round two (+2) while fellow senior Serena Chon and sophomore Lauren Lehigh wrapped up the first round tied with 75 strokes (+3), good for 28th.

In her first competition back on the course in over a year, redshirt-senior Reva Morris registered a 77 (+5).

With three holes left to go in round two, Lertsadwattana has posted four birdies on the round while Lehigh has registered three.

Over all holes played, the Lobos lead all teams in par-3 scoring (2.97, -1) and also in pars with 114. UNM is tied for fourth overall in birdies with 23, led by Lertsadwattana who has accumulated a tournament-most nine.

New Mexico is set to return to the course Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. PT (9 a.m. MT) to resume round two before immediately continuing to round three. Fans will be able to follow the action live via live stats.
