ALBUQERUQE, N.M— University of New Mexico cross country and track runner Emily Martin isn’t just excelling on the course; she is also excelling in the classroom.
The distance runner from Saint Charles, Ill., was a recipient of the 2020 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award. A nursing major, Martin carried over a 4.0 grade-point-average during the 2019-20 academic year and was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team for the spring semester.
The 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award is awarded to student-athletes who graduate with a cumulative GPA of a 3.80 or above and have participated in at least two years of NCAA intercollegiate athletics at a Football Bowl Subdivision institution.
