ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico athletic department has announced a new season ticket plan for the 2020 season: the “Zero Down Now, Football Later” plan.  It allows Lobo fans to lock in their season ticket renewals for no money down.

The plan is one of three renewal plans for Lobo fans that will allow you to lock in your season tickets for the 2020 season, which opens on August 29 against Idaho State.  The Lobos also host UMass (10/3), Nevada (10/17), San Jose State (10/31), Boise State (11/14) and Wyoming (11/28) at Dreamstyle Stadium.

The deadline for season ticket renewals was extended from April 15 to June 1, 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The Zero Down Now, Football Later plan means fans can renew their season tickets anytime in April or May with no money down, and then make three payments: June 15, July 15 and August 15.

“We not only want our fans to be safe during this trying time, but we want to make sure that they have something positive to look forward to,” said Joe Thuente, associate A.D. for marketing and communications.  “The Zero Down Now plan allows for our fans to have Lobo Football to look forward to, while being able to defer payments until a time that hopefully is better for everyone.”

The department previously had announced three and four-month plans.  Three months plans are charged once at the time of processing the renewal, and then on June 30 and July 31.  Four month plans are charged once at the time of processing the renewal, and then on May 31, June 30 and July 31.

The Lobos enter the 2020 season under the direction of new head coach Danny Gonzales, an Albuquerque native who played and coached at UNM previously and graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque.  The coaching staff featured many former players and coaches, including Troy Reffett, Jason Lenzmeier, Derek Warehime, and former coach Rocky Long as defensive coordinator.
