Note: This article reflects a schedule change for this weekend.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — THe University of New Mexico Lobo women’s tennis team heads back out on the road, and now due to a change, they won’t get to open their home schedule like they thought they would.  UNM will head to California for the first two matches, facing off against CSUN (formerly known as Cal State Northridge) on Thursday at 3 p.m. Mountain Time, and then heading down the road a bit to take on Cal State Fullerton on Friday at 2:30 pm Mountain Time.  UNM’s home opening match with Southern Utah on Sunday afternoon, originally scheduled for noon at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium has been cancelled, and it will not be made up.

UNM’s home opener will take place on March 5 against BYU at McKinnon at noon.

The Lobos are 1-3 on the season with two of those losses coming at 4-3.  That was the case in UNM’s last outing, a tight 4-3 loss to SMU on the road in Dallas.  Now UNM will be taking on a CSUN team that is 3-1 and is coming off a 4-3 win at home over Oregon.  The CSUN Matadors also have a 5-2 win over Pacific.

From there, it’s off to Cal State Fullerton, and the Titans are sitting at 5-2, but they are on a two-game losing streak, having lost to San Diego State 4-0 and Saint Mary’s 5-2.

The Lobos have been led in the spring by Danielle Quevedo, who is 3-1 in the dual season playing at No. 5 singles.  Bronte Murgett also has been strong, going 2-1 in singles at No. 2, and Hsiang-Wen “Albie Huang” is a perfect 2-0 at No. 6 singles.  Murgett still leads the team in overall wins with 10, and right behind her with nine is freshman Alisia Manolescu and Quevedo.

In doubles, Sara Kuuttila-Webbert and Myu Kageyama have combined to go a perfect 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.  Overall, UNM in singles and doubles are a combined 14-15, and UNM still has a .583 winning percentage in singles.
