Lobos Announce Starting Dates for Spring Practice

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Head football coach Bob Davie has announced that Spring Practice will begin for the New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday, March 26.  That practice, as all practices in the Spring, will take place in the mornings.

So far, the Lobos have announced the first five of 15 dates for Spring practice.  The Lobos will open with practice on Tuesday and Thursday, March 26 and 28 next week before moving to Monday, Wednesday and Friday the following week (April 1, 3 and 5).  The remaining 10 practices will be announced the week prior.

Consistent with the past, spring practice is open to the media and public.  Fans are asked to bring some water to drink, and the best place to watch practice on in the shade of the Indoor Practice Facility, located just East of the practice fields.  Fans can bring a camping chair or just sit on the grass and watch practice.

The Lobos have an air of excitement heading into Spring Football after a solid signing day class, 12 of whom are already enrolled at UNM and will participate in Spring practice.  The Lobos have two new coordinators in Joe Dailey on offense and Jordan Peterson on defense.

The Lobos return seven starters on offense but just one on defense, so position battles will be plentiful for the Lobos.  UNM’s 2019 football schedule is a good one, with home non-conference games against Sam Houston State and New Mexico State, and home conference games against Utah State, Colorado State, Air Force and Hawai’i.  The Lobos also have road non-conference games against Notre Dame and Liberty, and road non-conference games against Boise State, Wyoming, San Jose State and Nevada.
