ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to take on Houston Baptist on Sunday at 12:35 p.m. inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit. UNM is looking to continue its win streak that currently stands at six.

The Lobos (11-2) are also a perfect 8-0 at home and 5-0 in the month of December while Houston Baptist (0-9) is riding a nine-loss streak. KenPom ranks Houston Baptists’ schedule as the third toughest in the nation.

UNM topped Grand Canyon by 20 points on Sunday marking the Lobos’ third win of the season by 20 points or more.

The Lobos are led by a trio of players averaging scoring in double figures including redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle (17.8 ppg), redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg Jr. (13.5 ppg) and redshirt-sophomore Vante Hendrix (12.0 ppg).

Hendrix competed in his first contest for UNM on Tuesday against Grand Canyon after being officially declared eligible following the first semester of classes. He went 4-for-6 from 3-point range for a total of 12 points in his debut. He was one of five Lobos to register double figures on the night.

Houston Baptist is led by junior Ian DuBose who averages 16.6 points and 6.2 blocks per game, followed by senior Jalon Gates with 16.2 points per game.

Head coach Paul Weir is 44-35 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 72-41 in his fourth season as a head coach. HBU head coach Ron Cottrell is 487-416 in his 29th season at the helm of the ‘Lopes and is the same in his career.
