Lertsadwattana Leads Lobos Through Final Round

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team concluded the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Sunday at the University of Texas Golf Club. Through two days of competition, Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana led the Lobos with a three-round score of 221 (+5).

Lertsadwattana shot a four over, 76 in the first round, completed the second with a three-stoke improvement (73,+1), and carded an even 72 in round three to finish the invitational tied for 30th with a three-round total of 221 (+5).

Finishing second for the Lobos was junior Serena Chon who tied for 58th on the overall leaderboard. She completed rounds one and two with final scores of 78 (+6) and 74 (+2), respectively before closing with a third-round score of 78 (+6). Chon finished with a final score of 230 (+14).

Junior Caroline Jansson finished just two strokes behind with a score of 232 (+16) through all three rounds. Jansson shot a 78 (+6), 77 (+5) and 77 (+5) in rounds one and two and three, respectively to tie for 62nd.

Freshman Lauren Lehigh and sophomore Kamie Hamada rounded out the Lobo squad. Lehigh, who registered an 82 (+10) in round one, finished round three with a 76 (+5), finishing with a final score of 234 (+18). Hamada wrapped up the tournament with a final score of 237 (+21).

As a team, the Lobos finished the invitational 14th with a final team score of 912 (+48). The Lobos registered a total of 32 birdies over the two-days of competition. After three rounds, Texas took first with an 835 (-19), followed by Kent State in second (847,-17) and Oklahoma State in third (851,-13).

The Lobos will be back in action for their final competition of the fall season on Monday, Oct. 28 through Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the White Sands Invitational at the Ocean Club Golf Course.
