PHOENIX, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is tied for 11th place through two rounds of the PING / ASU Invitational hosted by Arizona State on Saturday. Senior Emma Edwards continues to lead for the Lobos as she is tied for 14th across the competition.

Edwards shot a two over, 74 in the second round to bring her combined total to an even 144. The senior continues to lead the competition in par-4 scoring overall with an average of 3.85 (-3) and she is leading the squad with her six birdies.
Sophomore Caroline Jansson jumped up 21 spots on the leaderboard after round two to put her in a tie for 46th with a two-round total to a six over, 150. Jansson posted an even 72 on the day, chopping off six strokes from her first-round score while carding three birdies in the round. The senior is leading the team in par-5 scoring (-1) and holds second place on the squad in pars with 25.
Sitting just one stroke behind is the Lobos’ individual competitor, freshman Tiana Cruz, who holds a score of seven over, 151 after two rounds to put her in a tie for 52nd. Senior Darian Zachek follows by three strokes as she jumped 10 spots on the leaderboard with the help a second-round score of three over, 75 to mark a four-stroke improvement. Zachek is tied for 62nd and her combined 26 pars has her in a tie for fourth across the competition.
Freshman Kamie Hamada and junior Reva Morris are sitting one stroke apart as they are tied for 71st and 73rd, respectively. Hamada holds a two-round total of 156 (+12) on the tournament while Morris is shooting 157 (+13).
As a team, New Mexico shot duplicate scores of 300 (+12) in both of the first two rounds of the tournament and remains in a tie for 11th with a total of 600 (+24). The Lobos are tied with Georgia and trail 10th-place Denver by four strokes. UNM has produced a combined 114 pars so far in the competition to put the squad in fourth overall in the category.
Stanford remains in first place after the second round of work as it shot a 284 (-4) on the day to bring its two-round score to a five under, 571. Arizona State follows by one stroke with a total of 572 (-4), while third place is held by a tie between USC, Northwestern and Oklahoma, each of which are shooting four over, 580.
The third and final round of the Ping / ASU Invitational will tee off on Sunday, March 31 at 8:30 a.m. MT.
