AUSTIN, Texas — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team wrapped up play at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite hosted by the University of Texas on Sunday. The team improved their score by three strokes during each round of the three-day tournament.

Overall, the Lobos shot a team-low score of 311 (+23) in round three, making their combined total 942 (+78). The squad recorded 17 birdies and 148 pars over the course of the tournament, finishing in a tie for 12th place with Texas State.
Senior Darian Zachek lead the Lobos for the tournament after posting a final score of 14 over, 230 and landing herself in a tie for 42nd. Zachek registered a team-high 35 pars and shot a total of four birdies in the tournament. Coming in five strokes behind in 54th place was senior Emma Edwards who recorded a three-round total of 235 (+19). Junior Reva Morris followed closely behind as she shot a 236 (+20) and finished up in a tie for 55th.
Freshman Kamie Hamada registered her lowest round of the tournament, a 79 (+7), in round three as she posted three back-to-back birdies on the day. Hamada shot an 81 (+9) in the first two rounds of the tournament, making her final score 25 over, 241. Sophomore Caroline Jansson also improved over the tournament as she shaved off one stroke in each round of play, recording a three-round total of 249 (+33).
Taking first place in the tournament was tournament-host Texas which shot a ten under, 854 and led second-place Kent State by seven strokes (861). Texas posted a total of 62 birdies over the weekend with three of its players recording at least 15. Third-place Baylor trailed by 14 strokes, shooting an 875 (+11) in the tournament.
The Lobos return to action on November 2-4 as they head to San Jose, Mexico to compete in the Battle at the Beach hosted by Baylor.
