Lobos power past Nevada on strength of four second-half goals
RENO, Nev. – The offense of the University of New Mexico women’s soccer team has been on fire as of late and on Sunday, the Lobos turned up the heat some more against Nevada by scoring four second-half goals en route to a decisive 5-1 win. The five-goal output for the Lobos tied a season-high set at home against Idaho State.
In scoring five goals, the Lobos’ (8-5-2, 4-2-2 MW) offensive attack, like it has been all season, was spread out as there were five different players that scored goals. Of those, three registered their first goals of the season. To this point of the season, UNM has scored 33 goals as a team with 13 different players accounting for at least one goal.
On Sunday, the scoring for the Lobos got started by Amelia Bierle. In the 23rd minute, Bierle converted a penalty kick opportunity for her first goal of the season and also to put UNM up 1-0. In the 34th minute, however, the Wolf Pack (4-10-2, 1-7-0 MW) would score the tying goal off of a set piece on a corner kick.

The game would head into halftime tied at one-all, but the final 45 minutes would be dominated by the Lobos.
The first of their eventual four goals in the second half came in the 59th minute when Cami Floth put away a corner kick play that was triggered by Jennifer Munoz. The goal was the fourth of the season for Floth.

In the 71st minute, UNM doubled their lead in an emphatic way as Mackenna Havenor booted a free kick from near midfield into the back of the net as the Wolf Pack goal keeper came out and tried to punch it out, but the rip by Havenor was just high enough to get out of reach for the goal.
