NORMAN Okla. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team wrapped up play on Sunday at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Okla. Senior Emma Edwards led UNM in the tournament after three days and three rounds of play.

UNM completed the tournament with an overall score of 887 (+25) after posting a 12 over, 269 in round three on Sunday. The Lobos recorded a team low-score of 288 (+4) in the second round, putting them three strokes ahead of UNC Wilmington and sliding them into 13th.
Edwards posted the top score for UNM in the competition after shooting a 218 (+5), landing her in a tie for 50th place. Edwards shot a low-round score of 69 (-2) in round two of tournament play and registered a total of 38 pars over the weekend. Just two strokes behind, senior Darian Zachek scored a 220 (+7) in the tournament and finished up tied for 54th.
Zachek led the team in round three, posting an even par 71 and recording three birdies on the day. She improved her score in each round of the competition [77,72,71] and jumped nine places on the leader board over the weekend.
Junior Reva Morris and sophomore Caroline Jansson ended the tournament in a tie for 68th, both scoring a 225 (+12). Freshman Kamie Hamada, who shot 13 pars in round three, wrapped up the weekend with a final score of 234 (+21).
Receiving first place is last-year’s Schooner Fall Classic champion Alabama, which finished with a final score of 807 (-45). For the second year in a row, Alabama finished 17 strokes ahead of the second-place winner in the competition. Two of their top competitors, Jiwon Jeon and Lauren Stephenson, took first and second place, respectively, in the tournament.
The Lobos are set to return to the action on Friday, Oct. 19 – Sunday, Oct. 21 in San Jose, Mexico as they compete in the Battle at the Beach hosted by Baylor.
