NORMAN, Okla. — The University of New Mexico’s women’s golf team completed round two of the Schooner Fall Classic on Saturday in Oklahoma. After a tough first round on Friday, the Lobos knocked 15 strokes off of their total score in round two. UNM will begin the final round of competition on Sunday.

The Lobos posted a score of 288 (+4) in round two of competition Saturday at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla. Senior Emma Edwards leads the way for the Lobos after turning in a score of two-under, 69 on the day. Edwards is tied for 35th in the tournament with a two-round total of 144 (+2). Just two strokes behind, sophomore Caroline Jansson posts a combined score of 146 (+4) after two rounds.
Edwards leads the squad in pars with 27, just one shy of tournament leader Kenzie Wright from Alabama.
Senior Darian Zachek shot just one over, 72 on the day, improving five strokes from round one. She has recorded four birdies in the tournament, three shy of her teammate freshman Kamie Hamada who shot a team-high of seven on the day. Junior Reva Morris is just three strokes behind Zachek after finishing up round two 10 over, 154.
After the first two days of the three-day tournament, Alabama leads with a combined team score of 534 (-22), ten strokes ahead of second place Texas. UNM, which is sitting at 14th place in the tournament as a team, is just three strokes behind 13th-place Wisconsin and six strokes behind 12th-place UNC Wilmington.
The tournament wraps up Sunday with the Lobos kicking off round three with an 8:50 a.m. tee time.
