ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Winter Olympics are an amazing celebration of international camaraderie and competition. But, you don’t need to look any further than our UNM Ski Team for international talent, camaraderie, and great skiing! Did you know that our team has skiers from 8 different countries? Our skiers hail from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the United States!
Now, we’d like you to enjoy the fantastic Olympic skiing with the UNM Ski Team by joining our Winter Olympics pledge drive! Now is one of the best times to support our amazing student-athletes that lead our team to continued success.
Join us in pledging to donate $0.89 (in honor of the year UNM was founded, 1889) for each medal earned by an Olympic skier from one of our skiers’ home countries. This is a program that in the last two semesters has turned in the highest GPA in the history of the department, including a 4.01 last Spring and a 3.95 this Fall! The team has won four races in 2018 and could be a top finisher in the 2018 NCAA Championships! Former skier Patrick Brachner, who was a member of the team last year, walked in the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Olympics for Azerbaijan!
