ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s swimming and diving teams will compete in two invitationals this weekend. The swimming team will compete at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas, Thursday through Saturday, while the diving team will be in Flagstaff, Arizona, for the NAU Diving Invitational Friday through Sunday.

The Lobo swimming team is led by juniors Adriana Palomino and Konoha Shinada. Palomino has yet to lose an individual event this season, winning 11 straight to begin her campaign. Shinada has also been a mainstay at the top of the leader boards for UNM, being the only other swimmer with multiple event wins in their last meet at NAU.

The diving team will look for sophomore Natasha Dark to continue to improve as she has throughout the start the year, and also for junior Allyson Concepcion to continue her consistent performances. Dark was the team’s top finisher in both the one-meter and three-meter dives at NAU, while Concepcion has had at least one podium in all four of UNM’s meets this season.

There will be ten teams competing at the Phill Hansel Invitational. The field includes three Mountain West teams including UNM, Air Force and Colorado State. Other teams competing are host Houston, Idaho, North Texas, Rice, Tulane, Northern Colorado and Vanderbilt. Download the Meet Mobile App here to follow the event live starting at 9 a.m. MT on Thursday.

The NAU Diving Invitational has an eight-team field including host NAU and the Lobos. The competitors also include two top-25 NCAA ranked teams, including California (No. 6) and Arizona State (No. 24). The rest of the field is made up by Grand Canyon University, Colorado State, Nevada and New Mexico State. The Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. MT on Friday.
