COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team had a successful showing at the Coeur D’Alene Collegiate Invitational after taking a top-5 finish with a team total of 10-over 862 [287,286,289].

“We had a pretty solid, consistent tournament,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “They fought hard and Ingrid’s top-6 finish was outstanding.”

Senior Ingrid Gutierrez stayed in the lead for the Lobos over the course of two days and finished with a total of 2-under 211 [72,67,72]. The field’s competition was steep but Gutierrez, being the seasoned Lobo that she is, found her way being tied for 6th and a top-10 finish.

Alongside Gutierrez, junior Darian Zachek had another strong showing for the Lobos with a total score of 1-over 214 [69,73,72]. Zachek’s fall season has shown to be very consistent so far and her experience as one of of the more seasoned Lobos has been an asset to this fall season.

Freshman Caroline Jansson carded a total of 4-over 217 [73,73,71] after three rounds and fellow teammate, sophomore Reva Morris finished with 11-over 224 [73,77,74]. Both Jansson and Morris started their UNM careers at home this fall season with respectable finishes and are showing that they are great additions to the roster. Closing out for the Lobos was senior Alexandra Moisand who finished the third round in a better position than after day one with a total of 14-over 227 [80,73,24].

“All five contributed moving us up the leaderboard each round,” mentioned Trujillo.

Colorado swept the competition with an impressive 18-under 834 [282,268,284] and were declared the clear winners amongst the field. They were led by Kirsty Hodgkins and Robyn Choi who both ended each round in the top-5 on the leaderboard. Hodgkins carded a total of 10-under 203 [68,65,70] and claimed first with teammate Choi who came up close behind with a total of 6-under 207 [72,65,70] and tied for second.

The Lobos will be heading up to Denver in nine days times for the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate and the team will be looking to have their third top-10 finish of the fall.
