LUBBOCK, Texas — The No. 7 Texas Tech Red Raiders looked everything like their ranking suggested, defeating New Mexico 4-0, handing the Lobos just their second loss in the last seven matches. The Lobos, who dropped to 6-13 on the season, head to Air Force for their final match of the season.
UNM lost the doubles point when Emily Olivier and Diana Wong lost to the No. 81-ranked Felicity Maltby and Gabriela Talaba 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and then Ludivine Burguiere and Cassie Chung lost at No. 3 doubles 6-3.
In singles play, Burguiere lost 6-0, 6-1 to Talaba, who is ranked No. 9 in the latest NCAA rankings. Alex Valenstein then defeated Dominique Dulski at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1, making it 3-0. Texas Tech clinched when Sabrina Federici defeated Rachana Bhat 6-2, 6-0.
The Lobos will now head to Air Force for the final match of the season.
