ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s time for another home tennis match! The University of New Mexico men’s tennis squad is back in action against the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona University (NAU) at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
The Lobos (6-8) are coming of two losses this past weekend to UC Santa Barbara on Friday and UC Irvine on Saturday. The match against Northern Arizona is the last match the Lobos will play before starting conference play against Fresno State at home on Friday Mar. 31.
The Lumberjacks (5-5) are coming off a lost to Mountain West opponent UNLV on Saturday. The Rebels ended their four match winning streak 4-1 on Saturday.
In singles, Ricky Hernandez-Tong currently leads the Lobos in wins, posting a 15-8 record, followed by Rodolfo Jauregui, 11-7. For Northern Arizona, sophomore Lucas Taylor, 7-2, and junior Sebastian Eguez, 7-3, lead the Lumberjacks this season.
In doubles, Bart Van Leijsen and Dominic West lead the team, 6-4, followed by Hernandez-Tong and Jauregui, 6-5. Northern Arizona’s Thomas Fisher and Felix Schumann lead the Lumberjacks with a 3-6 record.
New Mexico takes on Northern Arizona on Tuesday, Mar. 14 at 11 a.m. MT at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
