ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — You can forgive the Lobo women’s tennis team if they go in their cars and packed their bags on Friday, thinking that they were headed off on another road trip.  Nope, not this week.  Finally.  The New Mexico women’s tennis team finally plays a home match after six straight weeks on the road, hosting the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday at 4 p.m.  The team will have free pizza for fans, which is scheduled for the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.

The match is the first of back-to-back matches at home, as the Lobos will also host Northern Arizona on Tuesday afternoon on the back-end of a doubleheader with the men’s team.  That men’s match starts at 11 a.m., with the women’s match slated to start immediately afterwards.  Weather permitting, those matches will also be played at McKinnon.

The Lobos are just 1-9 on the season and have been down to just six players.  First year head coach Stephanie Wooten-Quijada is hopeful for teh return of No. 1 player Ludivine Burguiere, who has been out with a wrist injury.  The Lobos have gotten good play as of late from senior Rachana Bhat and freshmen Diana Wong and Cassie Chung.
