ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The No. 52 University of New Mexico women’s tennis team remains undefeated in conference play after a home match against Air Force Academy, defeating the Falcons 6-1.
The Lobos quickly secured the doubles point with wins at the number one and two positions. Andrea Leblanc and Rachana Bhat teamed up at number two to defeat Air Force 6-1. Emily Olivier and Dominique Dulski clinched the double point when they won 6-2.
At the number three spot, Sharon Coone and Ludivine Burguiere were up 4-3.
At the number one and two positions in singles play, the Lobos dominated the Falcons. Leblanc topped Chloe Forlini 6-1, 6-1 and shortly after Olivier defeated Mary Meyers 6-2, 6-0.
Dulski clinched the match win for the Lobos when she defeated Lily Forlini at the number four spot. She came out with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. With this win, the Lobos remain undefeated in conference play and advance to 5-0.
The rest of the singles matches played out after the match was clinched. Coone won 6-2, 7-5. Ludivine fell in her first set 6-4, but she came back 6-2 in her second. In the third set ten-point tiebreaker, she took the score to eight all before she fell 10-8. She competed at the number three position.
Bhat also went into a third set ten-point tiebreaker after splitting her first two sets, but she came out victorious, beating Meredith Laskey 10-5.
The Lobos advance to 14-6 in the season. This is their seventh straight win and they have won nine out of the last ten. They look forward to the Mountain West Championships held in Fort Collins, Colorado next week.
