ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Mountain West announced its 2016 men’s tennis all-conference awards late this evening, selected by the league’s eight coaches, and New Mexico’s Hayden Sabatka and Bart Van Leijsen were honored.
Sabatka and Van Leijsen both landed the all-mountain west team this year. For Sabatka, it is his third-consecutive season. He was a three-time selection for this year’s team, going 16-18 overall, primarily competing at the number one and two positions.
Van Leijsen made the singles team as a sophomore, going 22-13 in his season. He also competed primarily at the number one and two positions.
The pair also made the Mountain West’s all-conference team as a doubles duo for the second-consecutive season. They posted a 23-11 record in regular season play and a 3-0 record in MW play. As a doubles team, they were a two-time selection.
