Flushing, N.Y.—The journey of men’s tennis duo Bart Van Leijsen and Hayden Sabatka in the 2015 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships came to an end this morning after they suffered a tough loss to Texas Tech’s Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares.

The Lobos came out strong and won the first set 4-6. In the second, they fell short 2-6. The Lobos battled Texas Tech in the third set and it went into a tiebreaker. Here, the Lobos held on, but not enough to pull out a win; they fell 11-9.

“Bart and Hayden played a great tournament,” said head coach Bart Scott. “They have nothing to be ashamed of. They left it all out there and that’s all you want to see as a coach. We were down match points and fought back, and then we were two points away from victory. Credit to Texas Tech, they played the big points late in the match a few percentage points better than we did. We wish them luck in the finals.”

The Lobos look forward to the Spring season that begins January.
