Flushing Meadows, N.Y.—The duo of Bart Van Leijsen and Hayden Sabatka defeated the no. 1 ranked doubles team in the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships today.
The Lobos beat Austin Smith and Ben Wagland of Georgia 6-4, 6-2. They move on to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
“”Bart and Hayden played very solid,” said head coach Bart Scott. “Their opponents are a really good team so we knew we needed to play a complete match in order to have a chance to win. They did just that and we are happy to be moving on.”
The Lobos will play the quarterfinal match tomorrow against the winner of USD and Wake Forest.
