Head coach Kunio Kono says, “We started with a great first day at the Mizzou Invite. Competing against the top teams in the country is hard for our swimmers but they are handling the challenge very well. We just need to continue to race the same way in the next couple of days.”

He says that both he and the team have high expectations for the upcoming days of competition and are satisfied with their performances so far. “This is just one of the stepping stones for conference and NCAA Championships. We had a great start today. One (day) down two to go. We just need to keep moving forward,” Kono includes.

While New Mexico’s swimmers will start back up at the Mizzou Invite today with the 400-yard IM prelims at 10 a.m. the divers will begin their first day of competition in Tucson, Ariz. at the Wildcat Diving Invitational.
