Lobo Pride Passes Are Now On Sale!Lobo Pride Passes Are Now On Sale!

*New Mexico won the toss for the second game in a row.  After deferring last week UNM elected to receive this week.

*Only change to UNM’s starting line-up was UNM started two backs.  Crusoe Gonbay was in place of Ridge Jones.  On defense Richard Winston started for Donnie White.

*Lamar Jordan’s first career pass completion was a 44-yard pass to Tyler Duncan after evading a blitzer.  His second career completion was a touchdown pass to Teriyon Gipson.

*The touchdown was Gipson’s first career TD reception.  His only previous catch was last year against Boise State, and it was for -1 yard.

*New Mexico’s defense recovered a second quarter fumble when Nik D’Avanzo in his first game of the season grabbed one in ASU territory.  It ended a streak of eight games, 33 quarters and 513:55 of game clock, going back to a SaQwan Edwards interception against New Mexico State last October 5.

*New Mexico blocked two extra points…one by David Guthrie in the third quarter, and one by Paytron Hightower in the fourth quarter.  Brandon Branch recovered the fourth quarter PAT and returned it for a  defensive two-point conversion.  It was the first defensive two-point conversion for New Mexico since Brandon Ratcliffe returned a blocked UNLV PAT for two points in a 25-16 Lobo win on October 12, 2002.  That was also the last time the Lobos scored exactly four points in a quarter.

*Gipson’s 138 all-purpose yards were a career-high.  His previous best was 75 against Boise State last year on November 30.

*Dakota Cox had 10 tackles, giving him double-digit tackles in both games this year, and in six of his last seven dating back to last year.

*Javarie Johnson recorded UNM’s first sack of the season.

*Freshman Kimmie Carson recorded his first career forced fumble.

*With Carlos Wiggins out, Ridge Jones returned two kickoffs, and David Anaya and Reece White each returned one.

*New Mexico allowed 423 yards rushing to Arizona State.  It was the first time allowing 400 rushing yards since 1996, when Rice ran for 481.

*The Lobos are now 5-51 all-time against ranked opponents, and have lost 18 straight to Arizona State dating back to 1947.

*UNM has allowed a 200-yard rusher for the second straight week.

*There were four turnovers in the game (three by UNM and one by ASU) and all four led to touchdowns.

*Rookie kick-off specialist Jason Sanders was 4-for-4 on touchbacks, and has seven on nine kickoffs this year.
