Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 27th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft…served as the Lobos’ biggest speed threat off the bench entering 21 games as a pinch-runner…appeared in 40 games with three starts in the outfield…was a perfect 9-for-9 on stolen bases…collected 11 hits in 35 at-bats for a .314 average…finished with two doubles, one triple, four RBI and 15 total bases.
Summer 2008: Played in the Jayhawk League…Appeared in 18 games, 17 starts for the Dodge City A’s batting .333…joined the Hays Larks for the National Baseball Congress World Series…went 7-for-15 in five games with five runs scored, a double, two RBIs, 6-for-6 on stolen bases.
Howard College (2007 & 2008): Was a 2008 and 2007 Western Junior College Athletic Confernce all-conference… All V Region first team in 2007 and 2008…sported a 4.0 GPA in 2008 and 2007, earning Student of the Year honors…batted .446 in 56 games with 70 hits, 16 doubles, nine triples, 55 RBI and 12 home runs was ranked eighth in the NJCAA with 58 steals in 2008…hit .438 as a freshman in 2007.
High School: Attended Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Texas.
Personal: Born August 5, 1988 in Speyer, Germany to Tonya and John Monger…has an older sister, Brianna…favorite athlete is Jackie Robinson…Physics major.
