The University of New Mexico Alumni Lettermen’s Association Important Facts
Who:
The UNM Alumni Lettermen’s Association (UNMALA) is comprised of alumni lettermen – all of whom have lettered in a sport from UNM. The UNMALA has a full-time executive director who administers all programs and events.
What:
Lettermen have been part of UNM’s athletics tradition, and, by being a member of the UNMALA, they continue to have a major influence on the future of Lobo athletics. A formal Board of Directors and many committees help to perpetuate the future of the organization.
Why:
The purpose of the UNMALA is to promote and enhance varsity athletics and higher education at UNM by: 1) providing 5th-year commemorative athletics scholarships; 2) establishing and sponsoring a network between alumni and current student-athletes through the UNM Student Lettermen’s Association; 3) hosting special events, such as the UNM Senior Reception, UNM Athletic Hall of Honor Awards Banquet, Homecoming Social and tailgate activities, 4) assisting student-athletes in career development.
When:
A membership drive is conducted annually in late spring and early summer. Dues-paying members enjoy the satisfaction of helping UNM student-athletes pursue their education.
