John Babington was hired as the assistant AD for compliance at The University of New Mexico in February of 2024.
Prior to UNM, Babington graduated with a J.D. from Marquette University Law School in May of 2024 and received the Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute. While in law school, Babington interned with multiple different sports and legal organizations including the Modrall Sperling Civil Defense Firm (summer 2022), Northwestern University Compliance (fall 2022), Vanguard Sports Group (spring 2023), Milwaukee Public Schools (summer and fall 2023) and NCAA Office of Committee on Infractions (fall 2023).
The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native, earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in both finance and marketing in May of 2021 from New Mexico State University. While at NMSU (2017-2021) Babington worked in football operations and acted as NMSU’s NFL liaison.
Babington has a cat named Tyler. In his free time, he enjoys reading, watching sports, listening to podcasts and music, and traveling.
